Team Profile

The Business Management and Strategy team has 8 FTE in New York, London, Glasgow and Baltimore. The team is responsible for driving the strategy of SSBO, innovation in SSBO, financial management and business planning for SSBO. This role is based in New York. The team works extensively with the Team Managers, the Central Finance team, HR, IT, Divisional Management and Project teams to provide SSBO Senior Management with financial and planning support that facilitates business decisions and strategic planning for the 2100 person organization. The role will have extensive stakeholder engagement with senior management in SSBO to assist with the following:

" Innovation, automation and continuous improvement with an emphasis on financials
" Vendor strategy with an emphasis on using data to drive strategy for cost efficiencies
" Management information (MI) aggregation and reporting
" LEAN sustainability

Primary Responsibilities
" To support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working in line with the SSBO 2018 ethos of #simplify.
" To identify and deliver service improvement activity across SSBO through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative design thinking.
" To facilitate the design and development of automation solutions.
" To facilitate LEAN/process improvement based workshops to drive ideas and solutions in partnership with the Operations wide LEAN Team.
" To identify trends in our continuous improvement monitoring system The Opportunity Management Tool to assist with targeted LEAN Deep Dive into department processes.
" To assist in the development and implementation of a 'best-in-class' continuous improvement strategy in partnership with the Change the Bank (CTB) Team, Advanced Automation (AvA), the LEAN Team and our SSBO Lean Champions.
" To take ownership of change initiatives from evolution/efficiency identification through to project delivery via internal governance and controls.
" To support sub-departments to elicit requirements and drive process change using staff interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, business analysis and workflow analysis.
" To help sub-departments ensure the business impact and project objectives/dependencies are identified, measured, reported on and managed at all times.
" Direct interface and support of SSBO Management (MD and ED level) globally.
" Drafting and presenting regular updates to a variety of stakeholders.
" Proactive day to day management and prioritization of tasks as required.

Skills Required
" Strong background in budgeting, financial management, controls and reporting.
" Strong capability in data science with emphasis on analytics and coding preferred.
" High levels of discretion to manage confidential information and data.
" Ability to adapt existing skills in a new environment quickly.
" Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
" Strong sense of ownership and accountability for work.
" Solid analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
" Must be able to challenge, develop and improve processes.
" Effectively running silo-specific, cross-silo/cross-functional projects with modest supervision.
" Ability to partner with departments to examine complex issues and then articulate and propose ideas for time, dollar and subject matter expertise investment.
" Understanding of continuous improvement concepts e.G. LEAN and value stream mapping.
" Ability to lead service improvement 'Deep Dives' sessions with business stakeholders.
" A 'completer-finisher' taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery, in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.
" Experience of designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement in a multi-jurisdictional organisation.
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders and tailor content accordingly.
" Strong analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.
" Excellent proficiency with MS applications, namely Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
