ClientIC PURPOSE:

Provide direction and guidance to the Core Systems Team and Business intelligence group. Manage and oversee the daily operations of core and ancillary systems in production. Spearhead the development and integration of enhancements and new systems with existing Deposit, Banking & Lending automation software vendors, ancillary systems vendors and business owners. Also works with the CIO to actively manage and screen new releases of software and opportunities that may require an implementation strategy. Review efforts to maximize benefits and cost derived from systems functionality. Oversee and direct requests to develop automated processes through the use of vendor development data mining and business intelligence techniques as necessary.

Provide guidance and support to the Core Systems team. Ensure that all functions and responsibilities of the department are achieved in a timely and cost-effective manner. Direct the development of core and ancillary system request with the appropriate vendors and coordinate testing and acceptance with the business areas to close open requests. Ensure that departmental, corporate and regulatory requirements have been achieved. Monitor adherence to policies, procedures and change control processes to ensure the operating platforms are maintained with consistency and reliability. Escalate issues and potential system vulnerabilities to the CIO, business areas and Vendor Management as necessary.

Develop and implement strategies and action plans for supporting the deposit, banking and lending Operations and Sales areas. Investigate, analyze and verify testing methodologies for enhancements. Author, validate and approve or seek approval for enhancements and change request documents for new and existing systems. Maintain a streamline operation, reduce costs, and improve customer service. Prepare cost benefit analysis with corresponding recommendations for review by CIO. Actively engage senior business leaders ensure that system development continues to satisfy department and front-line staff.

Oversee the data flow necessary for use by data mining and business intelligence tools. Work with the business areas to determine if the data indices and data tables used by the various vendors is inclusive for the business area's needs. Examine and recommend tools and dashboard products that will be helpful for Senior management and sales personal to get up to date snapshots of issues, reminders and customer requests. Implement and support training requirements as needed. Partner with the Senior Manager of infrastructure to determine the appropriate hardware used by field personal and the delivery mechanism that does not impede customer throughput. Assist the CIO in the protection of NPI/ GLBA data by overseeing the core and ancillary systems vendors controls and compliance with all regulatory oversite. (FFIEC, GLBA, NYS DFS500, GDPR.). Implementation of automated processes ensuring that adequate data and financial controls have been Incorporated into the workflow, as appropriate.

Implement and periodically review standards for producing recurring and ad hoc reports. Proactively evaluate data base changes and enhancements to ensure that changes are warranted and cost effective. Also, changes are not duplicated in similar existing output or do not negatively impact existing vendor reports and functionality. Work closely with other departments and system vendors to refine data and make changes as necessary. Work with the Senior Manager of Infrastructure to deploy system upgrades and new releases of new vendor automation software and systems deployed for the corporate and remote offices.

Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures. Perform additional accountabilities as required by the CIO and any Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
DIMENSIONS: (Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
  • 7 + years Commercial Banking & or Lending experience preferred
  • 7 + years of Core Banking, Deposit and Lending System Knowledge (FIS, FISEV, Jack Henry, etc.)
  • 7 + years managerial experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Analytics or comparable work experience preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of technical systems in both in-house and Serviced environment
  • Strong knowledge of communications or networks (WANs and LANs), and associated operating systems (Microsoft)
  • Strong interpersonal, motivational, collaboration and leadership skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills* Strong decision-making ability
