Role Description:
Senior development manager with experience in brokerage operations / transaction processing technology, candidate should have a strong track record of delivering software development projects and successful application ownership. The Operations Technology Development Manager will report to the Head of Operations Technology and is responsible for the development team which delivers the Operations change portfolio and manages all Operations applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
" Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and form a forward looking strategic technical roadmap, including keeping abreast of industry advancements and performing evaluations of vendor solutions.
" Ensure technical roadmap is consistent with Nomura IT architecture and architectural guidelines
" Implement and ensure consistent use of best practices for development, coding and maintenance including stage gate quality, SDLC control guidelines and source code management.
o Systems must be designed and built to be resilient and fault tolerant with comprehensive monitoring to enable quick reaction to issues so we can ensure smooth business operations
" Manage the development team:
o Continually look to improve the efficiency of the team, which has currently 20 staff located across onsite and offshore locations
o Nurture and mentor this team of software developers, providing direction and guidance to enable them to grow
o Ensure the skills and experience of the team is best aligned to deliver on development projects and successfully support applications
" Effective collaboration and coordinated management with both onsite and offshore Trading, Finance and Compliance Technology groups as well as with business units and vendors
" Accurate budgeting to deliver the change portfolio, as well as support applications.

Note: This is not a project management role but is a technical role.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
" Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; advanced education preferred
" 10+ years of software development leadership in financial services
" 5+ years of Operations technology experience, including industry vendor solutions
" In-depth understanding of the full software development life cycle, across a range of technologies
o (Java / Informatica / Databases: Oracle, SQL)
" Ability to be hands-on with the technologies when required.
" Experience building and leading high performing teams of technologists onsite + offshore
" Demonstrable track record of delivering portfolio of change
" Experience managing a sizeable portfolio of applications
" Familiarity with Client BPS platform is a huge plus
" Experience with Build / Release OR overall DevOps is a huge plus as team is looking to adopt those practices
