The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. FCG prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting FCG, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. FCG is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, Tax and Valuation Review.
Fixed Income Product Control is looking for a contingent candidate to provide support to the Structured Notes business. The Structured Notes business is responsible for both issuing and market making structured note products (bonds with exotic payoffs). The business also trades interest rate, FX and credit derivatives as hedging instruments. Working as part of a team of five, the candidate will work closely with the traders to validate p&l and Greek-based p&l attribution. The candidate will gain experience in a wide range of fixed income products (interest rate, FX and credit) and will become proficient in understanding the accounting, valuation and risk management of these products.
The candidate will also have responsibility for month end p&l and balance sheet reconciliations and for various monthly/quarterly accounting and regulatory disclosures. The candidate will be expected to provide support for ad-hoc requests and analysis to other groups in Finance, as well as to the business unit and Operations.
The role will include P&L production, commentary and attribution using the Greeks, daily interaction with the trading desk, market risk analysis, balance sheet analysis, and interaction with diverse groups across finance, operations and the business unit. The role will give the candidate exposure to a wide range of financial products and to the risk management, valuation and accounting practices required for those products.
The optimal candidate will be an analytical, highly motivated individual with 2-3 years of product control related experience. The candidate will be actively involved in team projects and initiatives aimed at improving controls and process efficiency.Responsibilities include:- Daily production of fully attributed P&L- Daily interaction with desk, strategists and operations- Process reengineering to improve efficiencies- Month-end close- Balance sheet substantiation and analysis- Quarterly disclosures- Market risk analysis- Ad hoc request from the desk and other internal clients
